Served as with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in the 3rd US Army Headquarters, SO, Special Forces Detachment #11 as Special Operations liaison officer between Patton’s Army and the French Underground. Served with the VIII and XII Corp as well as with the Fourth Army Division attached to the US 3rd Army in France. In 1944, he was transferred to the China-Burma Theater where he served as SOO with the OSS Detachment, Kunning, China. Released from active duty Dec, 1945. After WWII, General Leblanc joined the Louisiana National Guard and organized Company H, 156th Infantry in Abbeville. In 1959 he became Brigade Executive Officer, Colonel in 1960 and promoted to Brigadier General of the Line, 1967. In 1972 he became Commanding General, Louisiana Army National Guard. General Leblanc has received numerous awards for his service and serves as head of the Office of Emergency Management in Vermilion Parish. On May 19th of this year Johnny will receive the Order of St. Maurice award from the National Infantry Association. He served in the US Army for 20 years in active duty. Johnny led the first Special Forces A team into southeast Asia in 1954 and was the youngest company commander in the famed 5th Regimental Combat Team at age 23, during the Korean war. He has been decorated for bravery and meritorious service 10 times by the United States, the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Vietnam. In 2004 he, and 3 others, were honored by the Royal Thai Army Special Forces for their instruction of the Thai Army in special operations tactics and techniques.
